When mother Yasodha had a doubt that child Krishna might have swallowed mud, she asked him to open his mouth, Krishna showed her a wonderful manifestation of the whole universe in his small mouth.
Yashoda became awestruck and began to wonder whether she was dreaming or seeing something amazing.
Lord Krishna did mischief again to bring her out of the trance. He expanded His internal energy just to bewilder her and change the course of action.
Immediately Yasodha forgot all her metaphysical speculation and became overwhelmed with maternal affection.
This interaction is another instance of the Supreme Lord having fun with those close to Him. This is His Leela. Is this not Krishna’s continuing mischief to show his ecstasy and thus tell the devotees to stay in this world for some more time?
Krishna’s Leela did not stop there but continued in his next avatar also! The naughtiness can be seen from time to time in the next Sri Ramakrishna avatar.
Vijaya Krishna Goswami was an eminent Vaishnava who had surrendered himself to Lord Krishna and did his Japam dedicatedly. He had great devotion to Sri Ramakrishna also.
Though he was an ardent devotee of Lord Krishna, he still felt that Sri Ramakrishna was a god in the human form. Whenever he was conversing with Sri Ramakrishna, he was naturally drawn inwardly towards Sri Krishna.
He stayed for some time in Dhaka, now in Bangladesh. Despite the change of place, his mind was constantly fixed on God. He was chanting God’s name with tears streaming down his chest.
Then suddenly, Sri Ramakrishna appeared before him. How could Sri Ramakrishna come here from Dakshineshwar wondered Vijaya Krishna.
With a trembling hand, he touched the form to see if it was true. Yes, it was Sri Ramakrishna Himself, who had appeared in physical form. Vijaya Krishna's wonderful vision soon disappeared.
On October 25, 1885, Vijaya Krishna returned to Calcutta, went to Dakshineswar, and met Sri Ramakrishna in person. Swami Vivekananda, Dr Sarkar, Mahendra, and many other devotees were also present there at that time.
Vijayakrishna shared his experience with the devotees, showing them how Sri Ramakrishna was protecting him.
“I feel as if someone were always moving with me. He shows me what is happening even at a distance”.
Narendra who was listening to this asked quietly, “He takes care of you like a guardian angel and protects you. Doesn’t he?”.
An emotional Vijayakrishna pointed towards Sri Ramakrishna and said with tears of devotion, “I did have his darshan at Dhaka and even touched his physical body”.
Sri Ramakrishna, who was until now a silent spectator, said with a naughty grin, “It must have been someone else”.
Perhaps Sri Ramakrishna did not want to reveal the vision he bestowed upon Vijayakrishna. Yashodha’s trance was hidden and similarly, the vision was granted to Vijayakrishna and the discussions were redirected.
Vijayakrishna wondered, ‘why Guru Maharaj, didn’t believe my words?’ However, Narendra didn’t give up anything that easily! He then revealed the vision granted by Sri Ramakrishna to him.
“Yes, I too have seen Him (means Sri Ramakrishna), many a time, how can I say that I do not believe your words?”
Narendra shared his experiences about the spiritual high visions he had received.
The chapter in the Gospel of Sri Ramakrishna where this narrative occurs ends abruptly with this question of Narendra.
Mahendranath Gupta, the compiler of Gospel of Sri Ramakrishna, who scrutinized every word of Sri Ramakrishna explained with various meanings, chose not to describe anything about this incident and ended the chapter.
Did Sri Ramakrishna divert Mahendranath Gupta's attention and did this play with him too?
Oh, these eminent spiritual giants are great masters in concealing somehow their glory!
