Excellence in Seconds - 13

Be a pupil, when you are among people!

- Swami Vimurtananda

Be a pupil, when you are among people!

Today, our monk had an unexpected shock. He was deceived by someone whom he believed to be good. 'It's your fault that you didn't judge him properly,' the monk's mind poked his intellect.

“All people are children of God” when we adhere and practise to this spiritual truth - Paramarthika Satyam - must undergo many trials and tribulations, deception, break in relations, bitter life, etc.,

Is it correct to think that every person is a fraudster, a sinner, or animalistic in character and ignores people? Is man a demigod or an animal? Maybe it is an imagination! But not a spiritual experience.

Each soul is potentially divine says Swami Vivekananda. This divinity exists in all human beings. When man manifests that power, he brings immense goodness to society and to himself.

At the same time, according to Vyavaharika Satyam, i.e., the reality of the practical world, we must be careful in our interactions and mingling with people while living in society. Because everyone has dangerous Satan hidden within them, who are giving birth to little devils to forget and hide their divinity.

The Upanishads say that the Chaitanya state, which is divine knowledge and divine consciousness, is the spiritual nature of man. As he descends from that great state, Satan - the sinful man - begins to take hold of him.

Alertness with the people, devotion to God, and striving to experience the divine knowledge and divine consciousness state are the paths for a man to live spiritually in this world.

Swami Vivekananda gave a wonderful lecture in his Jnana Yoga about 'The Real Man and the Apparent Man'– “The Real Man, therefore, is one and infinite, the omnipresent Spirit. And the apparent man is only a limitation of that Real Man”.

“Since the Lord resides in all beings, will you embrace a tiger?” The monk felt that Sri Ramakrishna is questioning him. As this question rang a bell in him, a spark struck him, yes, it is true!

The world is waiting to show its miracles to those who strike a balance and follow the path between the spiritual and practical truth.

On that day, the monk wrote of his experience in his diary as follows:

All are good, not always.... as you are!

Be a pupil, when you are among people!
